Ms. Shadi Shirazian as a new member of the Geophysical Institute received her bachelor and master degrees in Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering from University of Mohaghegh Ardabili, Ardabil, Iran. Her MSc topic was the Evaluation of Seismic Vulnerability of Bridges by Developing Fragility Curves. After this, she worked as Research Assistant in the Engineering Department, Islamic Azad University, science and research branch, Tehran, Iran. Later she moved to Drexel University, Philadelphia (USA) for PhD studies and is since mid-September at KIT in order to work on a PhD aiming at Advanced Stochastic Earthquake Loss Modelling in the Hazard and Risk Group of the institute. She is interested in earthquake engineering, fragility analysis of structures, bridge engineering, damage detection, structural heath monitoring, computational mechanics, and disaster management.
