Understanding Earth Deformation

The Seismogeodesy group investigates deformation processes in the Earth using geodetic and seismological measurement techniques. In particular, satellite-based measurements enable global observations of ground movements and deformations. We combine these data with measurements on the ground from geodetic and seismological station networks. This allows us to capture both very slow and very rapid processes in the subsurface that are caused by tectonics and volcanism, but can also be man-made.
