Der Forschungsbereich Angewandte Geophysik befasst sich mit der Entwicklung und von seismischen Simulations- und Inversionsverfahren und deren Anwendung auf verschiedene räumliche Skalen. Diese Skalen umfassen die zerstörungsfreie Prüfung, die Erkundung des oberflächennahen Untergrundes (Baugrund, Grundwasser) sowie die Exploration der Kruste. Der methodische Schwerpunkt liegt im Bereich Finite-Differenzen Simulation und Inversion vollständiger elastischer Wellenfelder.
