Abstract
Case studies from different regions of the world demonstrate both, the strenght and the limitations of electrical resistivity tomography (2D/3D) for the prospection of archaeological sites. Moreover, the results derived from the geophysical measurements always provide valuable information on the landscape evolution in close connection with the human settlement. During the talk, special emphasis is laid on the ongoing prospection of the "Drexlerhöhle" cave in the Brudertal valley near Engen (Hegau, Southern Germany).
