Abstract
The Finite Difference (FD) method is a key numerical approach due to its efficiency in seismic modeling. The staggered-grid FD (SG-FD) method is widely used for its high accuracy in seismic wave simulations. However, interpolation operations in anisotropic media significantly increase computational time. The collocated-grid FD (CG-FD) method, which avoids interpolation, offers a potential alternative approach. This presentation will compare these two methods in both acoustic and elastic cases for isotropic media.
